Summary

PTI, a 24 hr/day (3 shifts) / 5 days a week high-precision, custom plastic and metal injection molding company seeks an experienced, hands-on, and strategic HR Generalist at its sole location in Clifton, NJ.  Reporting to the CFO, this position will perform the day-to-day HR activities associated with this 100 employee manufacturing operation.   The HR Generalist will lead HR practices to foster a high-performance culture that emphasizes safety, quality, productivity, and learning. They will also manage the recruitment, training and development of a cost-effective workforce.   Additional responsibilities include:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, recruit and interview full-time and temporary staff for the facility via staffing websites and referrals, and serve as the primary contact for outside recruiting firms
  • Collaborate with operations management to ensure optimized staffing levels on various shifts based on forecasting of production needs. Positions to staff include hourly (non-exempt) skilled and semi-skilled workers, technicians and supervisors plus highly technical roles including Engineers, Quality Inspectors, and departmental Managers.
  • Work with operations management in defining productivity measures and implementing programs and policies to enhance productivity and efficiencies.
  • Issue and track warnings, operator errors, and attendance issues and update individual and shift scorecards based on these results
  • Run onboarding program for all new employees and work to improve retention rates
  • Maintain and improve company handbook and roll out handbook reviews and signoffs covering any changes made
  • Coordinate and lead Monthly Communication Meetings and liaise with various departments to develop content
  • Administer “PTI Pal” mentor-training program for new hires and lead train-the-trainer program to improve training aptitude
  • Develop and manage all safety programs in collaboration with operations; ensure company policies reflect and incorporate safety directives and continuously builds upon a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Investigate accidents/incidents/near misses and report fully the results; ensure operations/production staff develop alternate solutions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors in the training of employees in health and safety programs to promote a safe working environment and ensure program is in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement training programs to enhance skill sets and cross-train employees to build redundancy in multiple functions.
  • Track and coordinates all training in Company human resources policies and supervision/management training, including new-hire training programs (Orientation, Safety, Skills Training, etc.)
  • Executes Polymer Technologies performance review process; assists managers and employees with the review and consultation processes.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all company benefits and provide explanations to employees as needed
  • Analyze wage and salary reports and industry data to determine competitive compensation plan; administers compensation program to ensure compliance and equity within location.
  • Participate in the roll out and repeated training of company culture initiatives
  • Enter all new employees and status changes in ERP system including ITAR compliance requirements
  • Administer the vacation calendar and add scheduled vacation days and call outs to the ERP system
  • Coordinate 30-day union enrollment and 90-day benefit eligibility notification
  • Develop KPIs for HR function and track metrics over time
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all labor relations activity in conjunction with human resources initiatives
  • Direct USDOL Registered Apprentice and NJ OJT Training tax credit programs
  • Ensure policies and practices comply with current federal and state law.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7+ years experience within Human Resources with strong generalist background in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience in labor relations a plus
  • 3+ years of experience w/ safety programs within a manufacturing/industrial environment; knowledge of OSHA compliance preferred
  • Attention to detail, ability to be hands-on and be resourceful in gathering information, data, regulatory requirements, etc.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and navigation of staffing websites; experience with an ERP or HRIS system a plus
  • Strong communication and leadership skills a must

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Summary

PTI has an immediate need for a Senior Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will lead the development of new production manufacturing processes and manufacturing cells. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mechanical design, manufacturing and continuous improvement while also adept at developing life cycle projects including technically managing internal and external teams. We seek a hands-on problem solver, team player, and someone comfortable within an innovative, fast paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Production Manufacturing Projects: Design and oversee the building of precision injection molding tooling, manufacturing cells, production automation and part fixturing. Develop manufacturing processes, solve production issues and drive continuous improvement
  • Project Management: Technical management of outside vendors, contractors and consultants. Lead and coordinate multiple functional groups to solve and execute complex development and manufacturing projects
  • Assess the manufacturability of customer part designs in relation to plastic, metal and ceramic injection molding processes. Recommend tolerance and design for manufacturing (DFM) changes to part designs
  • Utilize problem solving tools including Six Sigma, LEAN manufacturing, and DOE to solve development challenges, eliminate process variability, and resolve issues that impact part cost, quality and delivery
  • Develop and maintain engineering documents including work instructions, process sheets, and drawings within a controlled document (ECN) system

Qualifications:

  • 10 years manufacturing engineering experience
  • Proven record of delivering component / assembly level projects utilizing a structured development process
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing, injection molding, tool / mold design, automation, and secondary operations
  • Equipment and fixture design for low and high-volume manufacturing
  • Must be familiar with machine shop operations: milling, turning, EDM, CNC machining operations
  • Must be familiar with statistical concepts such as FMEA, Gage R&R, Capability studies, SPC and DOE
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings including application and interpretation of GD&T
  • Fluent in CAD design using SolidWorks or ProE
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt a plus
