Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Summary

PTI has an immediate need for a Senior Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will lead the development of new production manufacturing processes and manufacturing cells. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mechanical design, manufacturing and continuous improvement while also adept at developing life cycle projects including technically managing internal and external teams. We seek a hands-on problem solver, team player, and someone comfortable within an innovative, fast paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Production Manufacturing Projects: Design and oversee the building of precision injection molding tooling, manufacturing cells, production automation and part fixturing. Develop manufacturing processes, solve production issues and drive continuous improvement
  • Project Management: Technical management of outside vendors, contractors and consultants. Lead and coordinate multiple functional groups to solve and execute complex development and manufacturing projects
  • Assess the manufacturability of customer part designs in relation to plastic, metal and ceramic injection molding processes. Recommend tolerance and design for manufacturing (DFM) changes to part designs
  • Utilize problem solving tools including Six Sigma, LEAN manufacturing, and DOE to solve development challenges, eliminate process variability, and resolve issues that impact part cost, quality and delivery
  • Develop and maintain engineering documents including work instructions, process sheets, and drawings within a controlled document (ECN) system

Qualifications:

  • 10 years manufacturing engineering experience
  • Proven record of delivering component / assembly level projects utilizing a structured development process
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing, injection molding, tool / mold design, automation, and secondary operations
  • Equipment and fixture design for low and high-volume manufacturing
  • Must be familiar with machine shop operations: milling, turning, EDM, CNC machining operations
  • Must be familiar with statistical concepts such as FMEA, Gage R&R, Capability studies, SPC and DOE
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings including application and interpretation of GD&T
  • Fluent in CAD design using SolidWorks or ProE
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt a plus
